Pikey Peak Trek

Pikey Peak Trek is one of the best short routes in Solukhumbu for broad Himalayan panoramas, including Everest and many surrounding mountains. The itinerary begins with a long overland drive to Dhap, builds gradually through quiet ridge villages, and reaches the Pikey summit viewpoint before an easy descent and road return to Kathmandu.

Pikey Peak Trek itinerary

Each day is structured for a steady pace, strong acclimatization, and memorable moments on trail.

  1. Day 1

    Drive Kathmandu to Dhap

    2,932 m

    A scenic 7-8 hour overland drive into Solukhumbu reaches Dhap, where the trek begins the next morning.

  2. Day 2

    Trek Dhap to Jhapre

    2,820 m

    Walk through forest trails and village ridges with first big views opening toward the Everest region.

  3. Day 3

    Trek Jhapre to Pikey Base Camp

    3,640 m

    Climb steadily through grazing meadows and prayer-flagged ridgelines to the base camp area.

  4. Day 4

    Sunrise at Pikey Peak, trek to Junbesi

    4,065 m

    Early hike to Pikey Peak for Everest and many other Himalayan summits, then descend to the cultural village of Junbesi.

  5. Day 5

    Trek Junbesi to Phaplu

    2,469 m

    Follow easier descending trails through traditional settlements to the roadhead at Phaplu.

  6. Day 6

    Drive Phaplu to Kathmandu

    1,400 m

    Return to Kathmandu by road in approximately 6-7 hours, concluding the six-day Pikey Peak journey.
